In Response To: Cro Cro: Face Reality, Kidnap them (News)
Cro Cro's only "crime" is that what little talent he has is raw and undeveloped. I see this calypso as a poor attempt at satirical commentary using the device of sarcasm to call attention to the preplexing problems of crime and corruption. It lacks elegance and reflects an inability to skilfully weave a semantic web out of the thread of rumour. The entendre is single! Nevertheless while Cro Cro's lyrics may be offending the sensibilities of the law abiding citizen, he is within his rights as a performing artist to call it as he sees it. God forbid that we dare to even think of muzzling our bards. If we feel so strongly that the calypso is offensive, then let us do as we have done in the past. Don't give the issue prominence in the media; don't play it on the radio.
