National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) leader Makandal DaagaPOLITICAL leader of the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC), Ambassador Makandal Daaga, has expressed concern over the level of corruption that continues to play out itself in the country.

Speaking on Saturday at the founding congress of the Movement of Social Justice (MSJ) at Palms Club San Fernando, Dagga called on the government to “open our jail doors, and just pack them in.”

To loud cheers from MSJ supporters in the hall, Dagga declared, “In my whole 40, or 50, or 60 years, I have never heard so much corruption in my land as I have heard in this country over the last few days. I can’t understand why we cannot open our jail doors and pack them in,”

He said the corruption continued in TT because the country never dealt with it as they should . “ People are stealing money as if they have invented it; as if it is their right to thief. I tell my party over and over again what we are experiencing today here, is because of our failure to act when we should have acted to prevent this country from becoming the state it is today,” he said.

Dagga added that when a few years ago a PNM minister declared they ‘thief” he made it clear that he was not among such persons. “I said not me,” he said.

Dagga warned Labour Minister Errol Mc leod who was elected on Saturday as leader of the MSJ that “it is going to be very, very difficult, not because you do not have the strength and character to do, but because of the present condition of this country.”

Dagga said his association with MSJ, and his comments made, does ‘not mean to say that I am against my party.’

He want on to say, “I was born in struggle , I grew up in struggle and it looks as if I am going to die in struggle. And this is why I identified with you in this party, and with all the members of the working class, in their struggle as they move forward from one point to another.

  1. He still around? What did he do to be paid so much money? The real corruption is the “blood suckers” who come out by night to do their thing…

    1. “He still around? What did he do to be paid so much money?” I’ll tell you ‘Mamboo.’He helped your leader ,and her UNC dominant party ,get to power, and for that was rewarded , so long as he kept his trap quiet.
Finally, upon realizing that the nail is about to be struck in his political coffin, he has started to develop some ‘Cohones,’ maybe?
Tell him however , he’s ‘a day late , and a dollar short ,’ as we say on de streets!
He burned his ghetto card, 4 years ago, when he accepted his 30 pieces of silver, as more folks that looked like him have died , at the hands of the state apparatus, and are daily dragged to jail , by selectively outraged authorities, since he, and his government assumed power. Pontius Pilate maneuvers,Dagga!
The people he represented , do not bring in containers laden with guns , and drugs .They are not the White color bandits , spoiling our country, and so , do not sit on high end Banks boards, or indulge in insider tradings, aimed at bringing down our Stock Exchange.
They cannot purchase 3 expensive, Range Rovers , after a short while in office, then try to cover up legal plans shenanigans within our prisons.
Yeah we know Mamboo ,your Karim constructed 18 education centers, all in ttibal enclaves such as Carapichima, Couva , and Penal. Political Carpetbagger ,Suruj thousands of miles of roads paved, perhaps in Aranguez, Erin, Siparia , and Tqbaquite .Roodal thousands of houses built.then gave out 980 out of the thousand ,to tribal party hacks, who already had two houses ,while always concern about the possibility of gerrymandering.
Dagga was made, a roving Caribbean Ambassador, and one day after , your PM , gave African dominant Caribbean countries ,the middle finger , after telling them “no more blank checks,”while opening the immigration doors to prospective ,Chinese rum shop owners, and phony, high end, Indian business ventures.
Oh , and least we forget , elevated Guyana into another Borough of Central Trinidad. What a sick joke.By the way, what became of that defunct La Brea smelter plant project again?

Hey Mamboo, tell that COP Zandollie Carolyn, she can mimic her boss , all she wants, but there are numerous reasons, why she would never become a PM in this country, and her party , would remain , an irrelevant ,UNC back up singer , in the real important T&T , political realities.
We know you comedians , are always quick to highlight the impossible struggles of members of ‘Afro Kinky head Nation’ , striving to co exist , within this regime , but can anyone name anything meaningful, even one of these COP blokes, did while eating State /Governmental food , be it AG Rammy ,aka Mr Lawsuit, High end ,clueless economist ,Uncle Dookie, and this out of her element creature ,’Carolyn Mulchi Bachan?’
Tell you what people – de person who can make me hate dis land , ain’t born yet!

      1. Kudos to you Neal, what an interesting and masterful commentary to eradicate the comments of all those idolators loving, pagan serving impostors who look at the news of the child murders, minister-pot smoking cabinet member, rover importing AG, Sat loving PM, child and women beating minister, drunk and breast touching fired minister, IPO stealing executive, central bank governor idiot and say what a wonderful government we have! Paganism have no shame and so would do and say anything out of the norm to convince themselves and us that all is well. Neal, I commend you for this comment and hope that those pagans would learn from the previous christian administrations.

        1. WOW!
WE knew that you often expressed sentiments which could be classified as racist.
Now you have hit a new benchmark….you have established yourself as a religious bigot. The year is 2014 man. Be smart enough to avoid such bigoted and narrow minded comments.

How soon we forget that Christianity and Christian doctrine were used to rationalise slavery and the subjugation of Africans.

  2. I assume you will walk in the jail and lock yourself up, Daaga. Aren’t you part of the government.

  3. There’s a history right here in T&T, this did not start recently. Was it Desmond Cartey or Carlton Alert that said ‘All ah we tief’?

  4. IRONIC…here is a man, not elected by the people, who was placated with a cushy, questionable government position for a fat salary, complaining about corruption.
He is part of the PP coalition government.

  5. Dagga declared, “In my whole 40, or 50, or 60 years, I have never heard so much corruption in my land as I have heard in this country over the last few days. I can’t understand why we cannot open our jail doors and pack them in,”

Dagga must explain to the nation what he did with his high paying portfolio? Every other portfolio holders have done an incredible amount work across the nation. As an example Karim has 18 education centers built among many other things…Suruj thousands of miles of roads paved….Roodalthousands of houses built….etc. but what has Dagga done…

  6. During an extended Senate Question Time which saw the Senate become a law court, Ramlogan criticised PNM Senator and attorney Faris Al-Rawi for asking supplemental questions which Ramlogan said were abuse of rules of Parliament. He also told Al-Rawi if he had evidence of corruption by Government this should be referred to the police, the Integrity Commission or Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. (The Office of the DPP does not conduct investigations, but provides legal advice to police and initiates criminal proceedings on behalf of the State.)

Ramlogan also suggested Al-Rawi initiate public interest judicial review litigation against the State if he finds injustice happening. The comments came after Al-Rawi asked Ramlogan whether the so-called “A-Team” of forensic investigators would probe controversies involving the current Government such as the operations of National Quarries Limited, Petrotrin and NCG. Al-Rawi did not provide specific details.

However, Ramlogan said, “If you have evidence bring it and I will be happy to take action.”

Ramlogan continued, “Talk is cheap. Evidence is expensive. Law is priceless. Get to the court and prove your case,” Ramlogan sternly lectured.

This AG is blunt, brilliant and disliked by the PNM because he continuously embarrasses them.

    1. Your rationale that if you can’t prove wrong, then it is right is abysmal and twisted logic. Wrong will always be wrong and right will always be right, but then again you judge logic by evidence of law.

  7. Cut it out T-Man, for your over hyped AG, is nada but a clueless , un-elected , one trick , obnoxious donkey , and an unenviable bully/ bombastic clown , all rolled into one.
Howl like a stupid ,hungry , constipated hyena, for the benefits of the gullible , and obviously scared ,4th estate idiots , only too willing to bore us with his time wasting exploits.
When cornered , then he would threaten to sue ,every Tom,Dick, and Bridgelal, from Cumuto , to Speyside ,since it gives the impression to those enthused -like yourself- by his charades, that he is a person of action, with a full grasp of the law.
His repeated penchants for selective , neo tribal outrages, and rushing to persecute phantoms enemies , such as our Miss Universe, national hero ,Wendy Fitzwilliam, is getting equally tedious.
The real question is:-can you , or any one produce one meaningful piece of legislation , this hot air joker has produced, that took his country forward? No, didn’t think so.
I never thought the day would come , when I would view a public official, in a more contemptious light, than your former phony Anti Death penalty , Human Rights activist, turned UNC AG,Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj.
This hideous creature, we are stuck with presently, has been able to make that immoral Ramesh, appear more like the much beloved , Tibetan Buddhist icon , Dalai Lama , in comparison.
I for one , would be counting down the days , to his exit from the grand stage, and so would
numerous disgusted citizens, who are concluding that they wasted their votes ,4 years ago .
On second thoughts, you might be correct , your AG is blunt, overzealous, misguided , and a walking disaster ,just waiting to occur, for his party, and over indulgent PM.
He is disliked, but , it ain’t only by PNM diehards, but the majority of decent, freedom loving , pro Democracy Trinis, that he continues to embarrass, with his repeated political follies.
    Good ridance.
