{"id":54609,"date":"2021-06-19T13:46:58","date_gmt":"2021-06-19T17:46:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=54609"},"modified":"2021-06-19T13:46:58","modified_gmt":"2021-06-19T17:46:58","slug":"trinidad-and-tobago-guyana-officials-in-vaccine-use-crosstalk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=54609","title":{"rendered":"Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana officials in vaccine-use crosstalk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><I>By Shane Superville<br \/>\nJune 18, 2021 &#8211; <A HREF=\"https:\/\/newsday.co.tt\/2021\/06\/18\/trinidad-and-tobago-guyana-officials-in-vaccine-use-crosstalk\/\">newsday.co.tt<\/A><\/I><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=54609\"><img src='http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blogimg\/LRamsammy.jpg' width='150' height='104' border='0' class='alignleft' alt='Dr Leslie Ramsammy' \/><\/a>Remarks made by the Prime Minister during a media conference last Saturday led to a heated exchange between officials from the Guyanese government and business community and Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>During his presentation, Dr Rowley referred to a table highlighting the number of vaccines received by all 14 Caricom countries and their associates as of Saturday.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nHe noted the only Caricom country to receive more vaccine doses than TT was Guyana and that was because they accepted vaccines that were not yet approved by the World Health Organization.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have raised that at this platform before, but I&#8217;ll raise it again.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Guyana government took a decision that TT did not take, and that is early in the proceedings, to use vaccines that were not approved by the World Health Organization.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a result of that, Guyana had a larger volume of vaccines available.
