{"id":320,"date":"2007-08-14T00:00:55","date_gmt":"2007-08-14T04:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=320"},"modified":"2007-08-14T00:00:55","modified_gmt":"2007-08-14T04:00:55","slug":"no-bail-for-woman-accused-of-raping-teen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=320","title":{"rendered":"No bail for woman accused of raping teen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Trevor Burnett<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.trinidadexpress.com\/index.pl\/article_news?id=161189618\">trinidadexpress.com<\/a><br \/>\nAugust 14th 2007<\/i>\t<\/p>\n<p>A Tacarigua woman charged with rape was yesterday refused bail and remanded in custody at the St Ann&#8217;s Hospital for observation by an Arima Magistrate.<\/p>\n<p>She was unrepresented when the indictable charge was read to her by Senior Magistrate Debra Quintyne.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that the 24-year-old woman, who is the neighbour of a 15-year-old schoolboy, invited him over to her home on August 7 to watch a DVD movie.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWhile the schoolboy was watching the movie the accused allegedly stripped naked, jumped on the schoolboy and forcibly had sex with him.<\/p>\n<p>The matter was reported to the Arouca Poilice and an investigation was initiated and the schoolboy was medically examined.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Constable Earl Weekes arrested and charged the woman with raping the schoolboy.<\/p>\n<p>The female rape accused told the Arima Court that she was schizophrenic.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Acting Sgt Niam Gyan&#8217;s objection to bail was agreed to by Magistrate Quintyne and she instructed the accused to apply to a judge in chambers for bail.<\/p>\n<p>The magistrate then ordered the accused to reappear before the Arima Magistrates&#8217; Court on August 27.<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.trinidadexpress.com\/index.pl\/article_news?id=161189618<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trevor Burnett trinidadexpress.com August 14th 2007 A Tacarigua woman charged with rape was yesterday refused bail and remanded in custody at the St Ann&#8217;s Hospital for observation by an Arima Magistrate.
