{"id":2742,"date":"2010-03-20T01:59:34","date_gmt":"2010-03-20T05:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=2742"},"modified":"2010-03-20T02:04:41","modified_gmt":"2010-03-20T06:04:41","slug":"pm-and-bakr-land-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=2742","title":{"rendered":"PM and Bakr Land Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>By Andre Bagoo<br \/>\nFriday, March 19 2010<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blog\/?p=2742\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trinidadandtobagonews.com\/blogimg\/1990coup.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\" alt=\"Yasin Abu Bakr\" title=\"Yasin Abu Bakr\"><\/a>WORKS and Transport Minister Colm Imbert, who yesterday denied being interviewed by the Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau (ACIB) in relation to Udecott, was in fact also interviewed by the ACIB in relation to an alleged land deal between Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Jamaat leader Yasin Abu Bakr which was disclosed in an affidavit sworn by Bakr in 2006.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe affidavit is at the centre of one of two ongoing probes by the ACIB. The other probe is in relation to former Udecott executive chairman Calder Hart.<\/p>\n<p>Newsday yesterday reported exclusively that ACIB had interviewed Manning and Imbert and investigators are expected to also interview former Housing Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Local Government Minister Hazel Manning. Mrs Manning is mentioned in the Bakr affidavit in her capacity as the former Minister of Education.<\/p>\n<p>Imbert was one of several former PNM Cabinet members who, in 2002, opposed Manning\u2019s decision to give the Jamaat land at Mucurapo, Port-of-Spain.
